Incredible Edible Bike Rides around York

As part of Le Tour de Yorkshire, 2014 a group of people from across York came together to create something incredible.

Inspired by the Incredible Edible movement, and the concepts of ‘Just get on with it and make it happen’ and ‘If you eat you’re in’, we hatched a plan and got on with it. We were also helped along by some funding related to the Tour de Yorkshire, presented the plan to a panel at University of York.

If you’d like to cycle around York (or walk) and discover some spots where people are growing gardens, I hope these Google maps linked below will help.

Stage 2 – St Nicks – Hull Road Park – Edible Uni, Goodricke

Stage 3 – St Nicks – Route 66 cycle trackside beds – Route 66 community garden – Greenfields community garden

Stage 4 – Peasholme Green – Barbican – YUMI at Fulford Cross allotments – The Nose, St Clements – Golden Ball

*I don’t know where the map of stage 1 went or remember where the route went, sorry!

To find out more about city growing spaces, visit Edible York’s website. Or you might find some knowledgeable folk tending to one of the city’s many public edible growing spaces.
